Photoshop Tutorials

The clicking noise begins 5-10mins of using the programs and doesnt stop until 1 minute after closing the programs. Apart from the clicking, the computer works as usual. It doesnt make the noise when surfing the net, only when working in graphics programs or viewing video files. 1 year ago, the tower fell upside down onto the floor of my car when transporting. Could this be the reason?
The noise doesnt seem to be the fan, it is coming from within the computer. I know the usual buzzing noise a computer makes when it is working, but this is an annoying continuous clicking noise that sometimes varies in speed. How can i check if my harddrive is dying?

im really fascinated with all those photoshoped photos in magazines, eds, etc. And i want to learn more about it. But when i google this, i get bunch of really lame tutorials and nothing that would look professional. any ideas how can i get my hands on real things?:))

Try this neat little trick that I use quite a bit.

windoze machine.

ctrl+shift+tilde (~)
You will see a million ants
ctrl+alt+I (reverse)
ctrl+H (hides the ants)

Then use filters or contrast, curves, whatever that manipulates the image.

What that little trick does is selects the highlights, or the revers (opposite) and lets you manipulate only that. It works pretty damned well. I use it quite often. You can go back and forth by using ctrl+alt+I (reverse) to achieve the desired affect.

I learned that little one from a photoshop pro when I worked at a major publication manipulating images for publishing.

Just remember, when you are finished use ctrl+D to deselect the activity. Otherwise, when you do normal manipulation it will drive you nuts.

By the way, there are a ton of photoshop trick websites. Take the time and learn a few of the tricks that interest you. You don't need many to turn out good work. The one above I use almost exclusively.

I am a photographer and want to add higher quality to my photos. I would also like to add vignettes and those types of things, where can I learn how to do this quickly and easily?

Hands down, the best tutorials are at Lynda.com. It will cost you $25 a month to have unlimited access to their huge collection of video tutorials. I know it sucks to pay, but seriously…they’re professional, easy to understand, and they really teach you Photoshop (or any software you want to learn about).

Many of the other tutorials that people are suggesting are such an assortment of good and bad, that it’s better to avoid those and go straight to a professional site (even if you have to pay).

However, if you are looking for some free (and QUALITY) Photoshop Tutorials, I suggest PSD Tuts. They’re not video tutorials, but they teach you to create some stunning work. Highly recommended!

Ces cours sur support audiovisuel seront également distribués aux enseignants qui assistent aux formations de recyclage en infographie que Thierry Dambermont donne dans le cadre de l’ASBL PROFOR dont les locaux sont situés, entre autres, à Anderlecht, Athus, Arlon, Hélécine, Wavre, Liège et Mons.
