   That’s great, but YouTube no longer allows gifs for profile icons. I used to have one too, but unfortunately my settings were for my icon to be updated to my newest video. My gif disappeared when I uploaded a new video and when i tried changing it back I learned that animated gifs were no longer allowed (unless you already have one and don’t change it)

   I don’t know what he uses, but Camstudio is a free alternative that is fairly easy to use. It’s probably not the best alternative on the market, but it get’s the job done..

    You tube banned GIF almost a year ago. I don’t know why, since a small GIF shouldn’t affect the connection speed that much. If you have a poor connection that slows down to a halt when trying to load small GIF files, the videos will take forever to buffer anyway

    As FightingAtheist just said, GIF icons are not uploadable on YouTube right now the way he described it.

    GIF is the only animatible graphics format openable by the paint program that I know of.

    Currently, it is JPEG that YouTube only allows for channel icons. And I think it has something to do with commonality.

    Hum… taking advantage of the bugs in the Youtube code, are you?

    AFAIK, they don’t allow animated GIFs as avatar, which probably means they “detect” the file format from its extension (as in “they don’t actually check it”), and only after seeing it’s a .gif do they look if it’s multiframe. Sweet.
