    I think the difference is in any adjustments that you might want to make later on. Changes are easier with adjustment layers and masks.

    I like the tut…but I have a question…Im a novice graphic designer and work alot with PS and When I whiten items such as teeth, eyes, etc…I use New layer>Fill>50% Gray>Blending mode “Overlay”>Then i use Dgdge tool to lighten and Burn tool to darken so that way I can Darken pupils and lighten iris or teeth at the same time. Thats just me and the way I work but i just wanted to know if you know somethin i dont lol
